Murray named top Boys & Girls Clubs board volunteer

Leslie Murray, who has been involved in the Boys & Girls Clubs movement in Erie County since 2006, has been named the Ohio Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs Board Volunteer of the Year.

The award is given annually to a Boys & Girls Clubs board member in the state of Ohio for their excellent service and commitment to youth. Murray, managing partner of Leslie Murray Law in Sandusky, received the honor at the Ohio Alliance’s Area Council meeting in Columbus.

Murray, a Sandusky native, is a Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Ohio board member and served as board president in 2022 and 2023. Under her leadership, BGCNEO, which now has 49 Clubs in six Northeast Ohio counties, reached record marks for the number of youth attending daily and total memberships. The organization also saw a record year in revenue during 2022.

Murray originally worked with the former Boys & Girls Club of Erie County and became one of the original board members when BGCEC merged with Clubs in Cleveland, Akron and Lorain County to form BGCNEO in 2019. The BGCNEO board is made up of 29 members; approximately 100 others belong to four regional advisory boards.

Murray, a wife and mother of two, holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Miami and a law degree from Case Western Reserve University. She is currently running for Erie County Commissioner.
