Shaquira Johnson named to key leadership post at Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Ohio
Shaquira Johnson, a Cleveland native who has been a vice president at KeyBank and has more than 20 years of banking experience, is the new Chief Revenue Officer for Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Ohio.
Johnson, who grew up in Cleveland’s Buckeye-Shaker area and now lives in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood, has been involved in the local Clubs as a board member since 2009, when she joined the Bridge Board of Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland, a young professionals group. She was appointed to the BGCC Board of Directors and then to the BGCNEO board when Clubs in Cleveland, Akron, Lorain County and Erie County merged in July 2019.
In her new role, Johnson will oversee BGCNEO’s revenue team, including fundraising, development operations, board relations, communications and marketing.
“It is an honor to join this amazing team,” Johnson said. “I look forward to continuing this critical work in my new role.”
BGCNEO President and CEO Jeff Scott said, “Shaquira is an awesome collaborator who has a genuine passion for helping our youth succeed. We are excited to have her on our team.”
BGCNEO provides safe, fun places for kids to go after school, with a focus on academic success, healthy lifestyles and character. Before the pandemic forced the closing of school-based Clubs in March, BGCNEO was serving nearly 2,000 kids a day at 39 sites in five counties.
Johnson comes to BGCNEO from KeyBank, where she has been serving as a vice president and leading Business Banking change management efforts through driving the development of strategic initiatives and execution of sales programs. She is known as a person who effectively builds relationships and collaborates with partners across the bank to ensure the needs of business clients are met through product delivery, marketing, technology and communications.
Johnson joined KeyBank in 2006 and has more than 20 years of banking experience. She has held management positions at both KeyBank and MBNA America (now Bank of America).
Johnson completed her term as president of both the National Black MBA Association Cleveland Chapter and Hawken Alumni Board in 2018. She has been engaged with the Hawken Alumni Board for more than 15 years. She is a member of Lift Him Up Apostolic Faith Church.
In 2018, Johnson was recognized as one of Crain’s Cleveland Business’s “Power Players: Notable Women in Finance” for her contributions to KeyBank and her community. She is also a 2009 inductee of Kaleidoscope’s 40/40 Club.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from Denison University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University.
